A company where everything it sells is garbage? Sounds like a recipe for failure, but that’s exactly what TerraCycle Inc does and they do it well. The concept is simple: take organic garbage destined for the landfill and turn it into plant food, package it in reclaimed soda bottles and sell it in Home Depot and Wal-Mart. The concept goes beyond simply producing an organic or environmentally friendly product and beyond just recycling to a another level altogether.

For the past three years with products like plant food, potting mix, bird feeders, rain and composting barrels and deer repellent that are all natural, TerraCycle is helping the environment in a big way. On their website, they also explain the economics of being eco-friendly and how their company is saving the world.

Companies and schools can get involved with TerraCycle with sponsored collections. TerraCycle will pay 2 to 5 cents per unit for collecting soda bottles, drink pouches, yogurt containers and energy bar wrappers and your school or company gets the added benefit of feel good knowing you’ve done something good for the environment.
